I got to have a chat with the DJ duo Pound Pound Pound (made up of Jeremy Rhodes and Josh Wren). Their close friendship and mutual love of music got them to where they are now, producing successful Dubstep and Electro House mixes and even throwing in a bit of Moombahton! Read on to discover more about one of our favorite DJ duos, Pound Pound Pound…

Where are you guys from?
West Lafayette, Indiana

Where is your favorite place to spin?
That’s hard to pick…. Maybe The Metro in Chicago or The Congress Theater

What made you guys get into music and DJing?
We both really had a passion for music. So we bought turntables off
craigslist, and things escalated to where we are at now.

Favorite candy?
Jeremy-gummy worms

Josh- beef jerky

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Somewhere in Europe definitely. Probably visit our buddies in England or the Netherlands

Do you have an idol? If so, who?
We wouldn’t say we have an idol,in particular, but when we first started getting into music was in 2008 when we saw so many shows that embraced the culture. It really inspired us to become a part of the movement.

Favorite genre and/or style of music?
We can’t have just one favorite genre. It would be too constricting like a turtleneck. Our taste in music is too broad to pick just one. But the main genres we’ve been hitting lately are Trap, Moombah, Electro and Dubstep.

What is your favorite thing about being a DJ?
The reaction after you’re done and the energy surrounding the show. You can feel if the show was a good show and there’s no better feeling then knowing you made a bunch of peoples’ nights because of the bangers you were dropping.

What is your favorite track at the moment?
Either “Flex” by Heroes x Villians or the Jay Fay remix of “Ladies In The Back” by Star Slinger

What type of equipment do you use?
For live shows, 2 Pioneer 1000 mk3s and a Pioneer djm-800 mixer.
For production, we use Logic and Ableton.

What is the hardest thing you’ve ever done?
definitely music production. No matter how much you know or you think you know there’s always something to learn. But that’s what makes it so fun.

How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
pound pound pound

You guys have any secret talents?
FIFA… It’s our goals to become the best FIFA players out of all the producers out there haha

What do you do when you aren’t spinning?
Making original tunes, going to shows, FIFA, or taking care of LazerLou. He’s our mascot and on out EP cover…he’s our pet skunk.

Where do you guys see yourself in 10 years?
Hopefully living on a coast somewhere doing music full time. Hopefully still touring.

Do you have a New Years resolution? If so, what?
I’d say just to keep progressing…. if you’re not moving forward, then you’re falling backwards in this industry.
Our main goal is to release 2 E.P.’s this year and do some major shows.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
Jeremy: If I could just get really big. Go into a room full of people and just get huge and make them all feel super uncomfortable. lol
Josh: Telekinesis… that way I could sit on my couch and write music just with my mind along with other things.

What are your thoughts on FIT Radio?
We think it’s really awesome and we are thankful to be apart of it. Thank you for providing a way to find new music and for supporting ours!
